Marner the Magical: He made a number of plays that made the home crowd ooh and aah. While the dangles will not translate, the on-ice vision and hands will. Marner's shot is not hard but it is accurate. The issue keeping him from the Leaf’s roster in my mind is the size. He doesn’t look to be 5’11 and 164 pounds might be a stretch as well. A summer of hard, long work is needed in the weight room, focusing heavily on developing lower body power would be a great benefit to the talent.

Top-end skating and excellent hands and vision, Marner is a constant threat to create or convert a scoring chance. Needs to add a lot of muscle and strength, as right now he still looks narrow, especially in his legs.

Magician with the puck, fast as lightning, and completely not playing the type of game he has to in order to survive professional hockey. Things that he got away with in London didn’t fly here at NJEC and they will never work in the NHL. Marner doesn’t look to have filled out at all, another major red flag.

I still see too much “juniors” play in Marner’s game. He isn’t getting away with it nearly as much here at NJEC due to the higher level of competition. He’ll get even less of it in Leafs camp.
