Constant movement with and without the puck pays off, as Kakko worked the puck from below the goal line out to the top of the circle, sends it to Ranta, then curls around to the crease. The puck finds him and he bangs it home. The best part was Kakko had his stick on the ice, in position, and the rebound came right to his blade. Fundamental hockey.

Plays the game so well in so many respects, but what really stood out was his crisp, accurate decision-making and ability to dominate play in tight spaces. The Czechs had no answers for him in the game, and once the puck was on his stick, Kakko was able to make the plays he wanted to regardless of what the defenders tried. Fast, good burst, good hands and a quick release, but it was his mental game and vision that was impressive in this game.
