Pretty pass through traffic finds Zimmerman in stride for a fast breakout. Same shift, gets the puck at the offensive blue line, pulls the puck around the Edmonton forward, cuts to the high slot then backhands a pass to the left circle.

His game is predicated on his passing, stickhandling and intelligence. He shows good lateral movement and edgework, but has below-average speed that limits his overall effectiveness, especially in trying to skate the puck up ice. However, his passing is sharp and accurate, even over long distances. In his own end, he positions himself well and uses his reach and smarts to break up plays before the offensive team can get established.
