Spends a lot of time having to chase back because he's been caught up ice. When he's settled in his end, his defense and positioning is solid, but its rare that he's actually settled at all.

That sequence was Barron capsulated: skates the puck up through the neutral zone, smooth and easy, cuts and fakes one guy then banks a nice pass off the boards to find Lavoie. Good, controlled play. But then Barron just kept going into the offensive zone. When the defender is able to poke the puck away from Lavoie, there is a sudden 2-on-1 the other way and Barron is nowhere to be seen.

Barron looks like a player who has been able to outskate all of competition for so long and rely on his speed and movement to cover up risky plays and mistakes, that he's developed some sloppy habits. He needs to correct those, and soon. But as a package, with a bit of discipline, he is still an excellent prospect.
