Scouting Notes
Note
#0
Shifty stickwork in the offensive zone got a pass to his teammate in the slot, chance generated.
Summary
#0
Continues to show very little drive to use his skills to contribute in a meaningful way. Has the skills to impact the scoreboard, but simply won’t get into gear. Flashes of his vision, shot and creativity are shown then the lackadaisical side takes over for a period
Note
#0
Goldobin’s lack of compete level will keep him from being any good.
Summary
#0
Goldobin will never be a player of consequence due to his near zero compete level. You can deal with lack of physicality, hitting isn’t everything, but he isn’t going into traffic, competing hard for lose pucks, in the crease for positioning, etc. He’s a player that if it comes easy he can do something with it, and his talent will flash, but it’s the little things that make you a professional and he is not exhibiting those at the AHL level. This is my last entry on this player until something is shown that needs to be noticed.
Note
#0
Goldobin walks out and scores beating Ortio against the grain with a quick release. Kulak caught going the wrong way off the rush.
Note
#0
Goldobin with an amazing sequence. Shoots, gets his own rebound, circles the net and roofs it over a well-positioned Hill from six feet. A high-skill play, the first I have seen live from him and it was worth the wait.
Summary
#0
Overall a decent effort for Goldobin. Continues to force passes to fellow forwards, often extremely low percentage plays. Always going for the home run pass. This often leads to turnovers and hard hits by defending skaters. Watching Goldobin, the talent is evident, but the finer points of the game escape him and he doesn’t seem interested in addressing them and modifying his game to be successful.
Note
#0
Goldobin and Tierney matched up. First shift Tierney nearly centers a pass to Goldobin in the slot.
Note
#0
Goldobin centers the puck to a Heat forward and the ensuing scramble gets the puck poked behind Stalock
Note
#0
Goldobin with only three shifts in the third period. If your coach in the AHL doesn’t trust you when you are trailing in a one-goal game, not sure if that is a good sign.
Note
#0
Goldobin not put out on the PP, down by 1 goal, last 2 minutes of play.
Note
#0
Generated good speed without the puck through the neutral zone, but in the resulting offensive-zone shift, SJ never gained possession of the puck. Goldobin passed on an opportunity to make a hit, and actually turned the wrong way trying to anticipate a poke check instead.
Note
#0
Goldobin with the game winner. Finally out for a shift and ends it in Overtime with a good shot.
Summary
#0
Goldobin is an enigma. Less than a handful of shifts in the third period and on the bench when the game is on the line in the final minutes. Finally gets a shift in the overtime and buries it on a great shot. Goldobin has been playing better with Chris Tierney sent down, but a player of his talent and skills has to be able to create on his own as well, not sulk and play a half-assed game.
Note
#0
No energy in puck pursuit, despite being down 5-2 in the third.
Summary
#0
Goldobin obviously possesses skills, and showed some sparks of creativity. However, in this game at least, he showed little interest in playing a complete game and was mostly invisible throughout all three periods. Granted, it was a lackluster game all around, but Goldobin's performance was disappointing.
Summary
#0
Easily the highest raw talent in the Sharks prospect pool, Goldy had a very forgettable game. The knock on him in his draft year continues: seems to coast at times and does in fact look bored for entire periods and even games at a time. Had opportunities to contribute physically and chose to turn away from contact each time and spent zero time in the slot trying to get a scoring chance. Easily the worst game in several viewings.
Note
#0
Goldobin with a mediocre shift to start. Hope he shows some fire tonight
Note
#0
Quiet first period for Goldobin.
Note
#0
Goldobin should be taking this game over. Poor decisions, lazy passes, he just does not look like he is that interested in hockey. I have seen a dozen games of his and have never seen any drive from him.
Note
#0
Goldobin showing some life on the PP. Back-to-back passes that lead to scoring chances. Gets moving again on a shift to dish to the center. Would like to see more killer instinct from him, has a good shot and needs to use it.
Note
#0
Goldobin touch going early and often, few nice passes to get solid chances
Note
#0
Goldobin’s positioning is much improved. Not curling away from the crease or offensive plays, staying open for the puck.
Note
#0
Goldobin sticks with the play and kicks down the puck to get a chance. Earlier this year he would have peeled off and nothing would have come of it. Instead its an offensive draw.
Summary
#0
The small, professional details are starting to appear in Goldobin’s game and that is a credit to Roy Sommer’s coaching. The offensive skill is not doubted, but now that the defense and all-around attention to detail is present, Goldobin has a good chance as a prospect.
Note
#0
Goldobin looking much more engaged in practice, good habits, leading a lot of drills
Note
#0
Goldobin forechecks, incepts the pass and makes a great feed to O’Regan for a chance on net. Big shift.
