Another quality performance from Honka, who continues to prove that he can be an NHL defenseman by supplementing his smaller build with intelligent positional play, top-flight skating and smooth on-ice awareness. Honka does not panic in his own end, even when he makes a mistake or, more often, needs to cover for someone else's missed assignment. He is a natural defender, always getting his stick or his body in position to disrupt an attacker's best options, and moves with efficiency and determination. Honka takes hits to make plays when he needs to do so, but more often his already moved the puck into a safer, more opportunistic play. He can skate with the puck and has the stickhandling to deke around forecheckers, and makes smart passes consistently.
