Dawson Mercer | Note | Taking the puck behind the net, fakes the back pass, drives behind the net and out and turns for a shot. | Brian Fogarty | Chicoutimi vs Drummondville (QMJHL) | Video (With Replay) | 10/19/2019 |
Dawson Mercer | Note | Feasting in the faceoff circle. Cleanly winning drop after drop. | Brian Fogarty | Chicoutimi vs Drummondville (QMJHL) | Video (With Replay) | 10/19/2019 |
Dawson Mercer | Note | Fantastic display of puck handling. Uses the toe to stop the puck, pulls into his feet to avoid the poke check, then turns and shoots. | Brian Fogarty | Chicoutimi vs Drummondville (QMJHL) | Video (With Replay) | 10/19/2019 |
Dawson Mercer | Note | Hard slapper while gliding backwards, a one-timer from the left circle. Rocket. | Brian Fogarty | Chicoutimi vs Drummondville (QMJHL) | Video (With Replay) | 10/19/2019 |
Dawson Mercer | Note | Hands are active on the stick, loose and confident puckhandler. | Brian Fogarty | Chicoutimi vs Drummondville (QMJHL) | Video (With Replay) | 10/19/2019 |
Dawson Mercer | Note | Intercepts a pass in the neutral zone, drives the left wing, around the original passer, then cuts to hard to the net along the bottom of the circle and dishes to the player with a better shooting angle. | Brian Fogarty | Chicoutimi vs Drummondville (QMJHL) | Video (With Replay) | 10/19/2019 |
Dawson Mercer | Note | With the Chicoutimi goalie behind the net with the puck, Mercer swoops in, takes it cleanly away from him, and goes straight into a wraparound for an easy but stunning goal. | Brian Fogarty | Chicoutimi vs Drummondville (QMJHL) | Video (With Replay) | 10/19/2019 |
Dawson Mercer | Note | Hands and vision are so great. In a board scrum, he still manages to see the open man and pick the puck out of the pile and swiftly backhand a pass to him before anyone can stop it. Sick stuff. | Brian Fogarty | Chicoutimi vs Drummondville (QMJHL) | Video (With Replay) | 10/19/2019 |
Dawson Mercer | Note | Hands are so crafty the opposing defense and goalie have a difficult time reading shot or pass. Either can come off of his stick in an instant. | Brian Fogarty | Chicoutimi vs Drummondville (QMJHL) | Video (With Replay) | 10/19/2019 |
Dawson Mercer | Note | Loose puck, he collects and takes off. Lapierre tries to match him, but Mercer gains a step, and Lapierre hooks him to prevent a possible breakaway. | Brian Fogarty | Chicoutimi vs Drummondville (QMJHL) | Video (With Replay) | 10/19/2019 |
Dawson Mercer | Note | His full-out mechanics are not clean. He doesn't get enough extension or power in his pushes. If he cleans that up he'll get faster at the top end. | Brian Fogarty | Chicoutimi vs Drummondville (QMJHL) | Video (With Replay) | 10/19/2019 |
Dawson Mercer | Summary | Simply one of my favorite players of this draft, and has been for a while. He looks lean, and his power skating needs work, but his is agile and rarely loses out on getting to the spot before his opponents. His hockey iq is ridiculous, which helps overcome the missing top gear. But it's his hands that shine when he has the puck on his stick, and he seems to see plays no one else notices. Just a fantastic player and a potential NHL superstar. | Brian Fogarty | Chicoutimi vs Drummondville (QMJHL) | Video (With Replay) | 10/19/2019 |
Dawson Mercer | Note | Good skater, quick, low, excellent balance and agility. Uses his edges to adjust lateral position on the move. | Brian Fogarty | Drummondville vs Halifax (QMJHL) | Video (With Replay) | 11/25/2018 |
Dawson Mercer | Note | PK faceoff in his own zone, pucks goes to the point and Mercer uses his quickness to get out and pressure McIsaac, creating the turnover, then he's gone like a flash for a clean breakaway that Gravel saved with a good effort. Nice play by Mercer, using speed and effort to create a high-end chance shorthanded. | Brian Fogarty | Drummondville vs Halifax (QMJHL) | Video (With Replay) | 11/25/2018 |
Dawson Mercer | Note | His speed is a weapon. Creates another turnover and hustles the puck towards the net before his feet are swept out from beneath him. He needs only one step and he separates from everyone. | Brian Fogarty | Drummondville vs Halifax (QMJHL) | Video (With Replay) | 11/25/2018 |
Dawson Mercer | Note | Takes a hit to make sure he can chop the puck out of his zone to break up some sustained pressure from Halifax. His team is up 5-1, but he made the difficult play. | Brian Fogarty | Drummondville vs Halifax (QMJHL) | Video (With Replay) | 11/25/2018 |
Dawson Mercer | Note | Once again, his speed gets him a near breakaway and he draws a penalty. No one on Halifax can match his pace. | Brian Fogarty | Drummondville vs Halifax (QMJHL) | Video (With Replay) | 11/25/2018 |
Dawson Mercer | Summary | Liked his game a lot. Constant pressure at both ends, exceedingly fast, darting and over distance. More importantly, he utilizes his speed to its full effect, causing major problems for the other team. He is 6'0 and 172 pounds, over a point per game so far this season, and he's in his draft-minus-one year as a 2020 draft-eligible player. One to watch, for sure. | Brian Fogarty | Drummondville vs Halifax (QMJHL) | Video (With Replay) | 11/25/2018 |
