Top Prospects: The Forwards - Fall 2022 Edition
The fall edition of the The Forwards top prospects ranking incorporates all of the 2004-born forwards and as such creates a major shuffling of the list as the new players take on spots. Matt Beniers becomes the new top prospect and is likely making his last appearance on the list before graduating as a full-time NHL player. The former number one, Quinten Byfield, drops down to fifth overall as he has been slower to develop than expected but is still one of hockey's best young talents.
Despite having been selected first overall in the 2022, Juraj Slafkovsky is third in the ranking behind Shane Wright at second. Wright's all-around play, support of the puck and high-level offensive abilities have not been diminished due to dropping a few spots in the draft.
The other member of the top five, Matt Boldy, finished the 2022 season with enough games to have graduated, but he is a player that deserves a final nod before moving on NHL glory.
