Jack Finley | Note | So tall at 6'5, 207 pounds, but he is a fluid, fast skater with agility as well. Nasty combo. | Brian Fogarty | Portland vs Spokane (WHL) | Video (With Replay) | 10/25/2019 |
Jack Finley | Note | Throws a hit along the boards, using his size as a factor for physical play. | Brian Fogarty | Portland vs Spokane (WHL) | Video (With Replay) | 10/25/2019 |
Jack Finley | Note | Top power play unit, taking up a net-front position. | Brian Fogarty | Portland vs Spokane (WHL) | Video (With Replay) | 10/25/2019 |
Jack Finley | Note | Accelerates toward the net and wrists a shot low that handcuffed the goaltender. | Brian Fogarty | Portland vs Spokane (WHL) | Video (With Replay) | 10/25/2019 |
Jack Finley | Note | Highly active at the crease on the power play. He's so big and well balanced that defenders can't dislodge him and the goalie has hard time getting sight lines. | Brian Fogarty | Portland vs Spokane (WHL) | Video (With Replay) | 10/25/2019 |
Jack Finley | Note | Gets a wide, wide stance for faceoffs, and he gets so much leverage on the draw. | Brian Fogarty | Portland vs Spokane (WHL) | Video (With Replay) | 10/25/2019 |
Jack Finley | Note | Killing penalties, but loses the faceoff in the defensive zone. | Brian Fogarty | Portland vs Spokane (WHL) | Video (With Replay) | 10/25/2019 |
Jack Finley | Note | Again being called upon to kill penalties, and again he's just sort of passive in the slot. This looks more like a coaching preference rather than his play. | Brian Fogarty | Portland vs Spokane (WHL) | Video (With Replay) | 10/25/2019 |
Jack Finley | Note | At times, he looks like a kid trying to figure out how to make his body work in unison with all its parts. Once he does, he could be a real force to be reckoned with. | Brian Fogarty | Portland vs Spokane (WHL) | Video (With Replay) | 10/25/2019 |
Jack Finley | Note | Needs to up his physical play a bit more. | Brian Fogarty | Portland vs Spokane (WHL) | Video (With Replay) | 10/25/2019 |
Jack Finley | Note | On the boards in the corner, the defender hooks him and he topples over. Weird play, but I'd like him to keep his feet there. | Brian Fogarty | Portland vs Spokane (WHL) | Video (With Replay) | 10/25/2019 |
Jack Finley | Note | Strides are so long, he can cover half the rink in what seems like three steps. | Brian Fogarty | Portland vs Spokane (WHL) | Video (With Replay) | 10/25/2019 |
Jack Finley | Note | Overskates the far post and is out of position, but the puck on the far boards goes the other way, so no damage. | Brian Fogarty | Portland vs Spokane (WHL) | Video (With Replay) | 10/25/2019 |
Jack Finley | Summary | One of the youngest members of the 2020 draft class (9/2 birthdate), Finley might also be the biggest at 6'5, 207. He is a suprisingly good skater, with long, powerful strides and good edges and agility. He is strong on the puck and has a physical element though he needs to improve on that portion of his game. He was heavily relied on to kill penalties, take faceoffs in all zones, and get to the crease on the powerplay. He showed good hands and a facility for battling for pucks at the crease. He's a player who will improve over time if he keeps working hard. | Brian Fogarty | Portland vs Spokane (WHL) | Video (With Replay) | 10/25/2019 |
